About Radhadesh

Radhadesh

Radhadesh is spiritual community in the Belgian Ardennes, founded in1980. The present chateau, the centerpiece of the Radhadesh project, dates back to 1877. In Radhadesh community there are around a hundred members, including families and single people.

Radhadesh is the main centre for Vaishnavism in the Benelux. Vaishnavism is often classified by scholars as part of a major branch of Hinduism. Vaishnavas worship God in His form as Lord Krishna. Radhadesh is branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) popularly known as the Hare Krishna movement.

The chateau and its attractively maintained grounds make Radhadesh a great place to visit both for devotees of Krishna and the general public. In the chateau itself the exquisite ground-floor rooms include a beautiful and unique temple room, constructed from Italian marble. Also on the property are a bakery, a vegetarian restaurant (with a playground to entertain younger visitors), an Indian boutique, a theological college and library, a guesthouse and gardens.

The grounds of Radhadesh (47 hectares) consist of a mix of forest, hills, meadows, and various buildings in he old style of the Ardennes. One project at Radhadesh is the renovation and upkeep of all the historical buildings on property. Protected cows graze in the pastures and there is a beautiful country walk, which meanders through the local woodland (the walk is 3 km long and is open for all).
